A online distance learning course called Fostering Multicultural and Diversity Competence in Art Therapy is available through the AATA's Institute for Continuing Education in Art Therapy (ICE/AT).  Fostering Multicultural and Diversity Competence in Art Therapy course, developed by the Multicultural Committee, has just been added and is available to you. Multicultural and Diversity Competence in art therapy is a capacity whereby art therapists possess cultural and diversity awareness and knowledge about self and others, and at the same time ensure that this awareness and knowledge is skillfully applied in practice with clients and client groups. Fostering Multicultural and Diversity Competence in Art Therapy is designed to strengthen the identity of art therapists by advancing multicultural and diversity competence as essential to ethical practice and the cornerstone for effective art therapy practice.
The Course learning materials include: the Multicultural Committee Historical Overview, 2011 Art Therapy Multicultural-Diversity Competencies, Wheels of Diversity in Art Therapy: Pioneers of Color, a documentary film, and more!

The Coalition for Art Therapy Educators (CATE) uses a yahoo list-serve to communicate throughout the year.  The purpose of the list serve is to have a forum in which to discuss issues that pertain to art therapy educators. If you would like to be added to the list-serve, please email Eileen Estes at eileen.estes@louisville.edu and she will invite to you through the Yahoo Group.

We advocate by uniting members around the world to work on the most important issues facing the profession.

We initiate and manage programs with governmental and non-governmental agencies, presenting industry positions and supporting documentation on key issues.
